Lynch's Direct Appeal campaign is the primary source of funding for school-wide enrichment activities at Lynch. The money raised is used by the Lynch Parents Association (LPA) for the benefit of every child in our school.  This year's goal is $18,000.

No donation is too small or too large because it benefits all of our students. Our goal is to have every family participate in this year’s Direct Appeal campaign. While the suggested donation is $100, we encourage you to donate what works for your family. Truly, every and any amount is much appreciated.

Please remember that many companies offer a matching gift program, so please check https://lynchschool.com/matching-companies to find out whether your employer will match your donation to Lynch, or inquire with your HR department.

The earlier we collect money for Direct Appeal, the better we will be able to plan and sponsor enrichment programs for the year.

Here are SOME of the amazing things Lynch is able to do thanks to your contributions:

  • Welcome to Lynch Popsicle Party (for incoming kindergartners and new-to-Lynch families)
  • Lynch school and class directories, weekly LPA newsletters and website
  • Welcome back coffees for families
  • Welcome Back BBQ

Each year the Lynch Parents Association advances its mission of promoting and supporting the goals of the school and providing an environment in the community that will stimulate and enhance the academic and social development of our children. So, in addition to the programs and activities listed above, the majority of funds raised this year also supported ALL grade-level enrichment activities and field trips.

Every student participates in grade-level enrichment programs funded by your direct appeal donation.  Here is a sampling of the enriching experiences we are able to offer with your support:

Direct Appeal – Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the LPA asking for money from parents?
Each school in town must raise funds for programs, equipment and events that will enrich the education of its enrollees. At Lynch, the Lynch Parent's Association (LPA) was founded to coordinate these services and activities. LPA is funded by money received from individual donors, by money collected at revenue generating events and through charitable donations from corporate entities. No money is given to LPA by the School District or the Town.

How does my donation provide enrichment activities?
Last year, the LPA hosted over 20 different enrichment programs, at least two events or activities per grade. The LPA also organizes Lynch’s Extended Learning Program (ELP), which offers before and after school classes in 3 sessions. The LPA underwrites much of the costs, such as instructor pay and materials fees, to keep the tuition charges low, allowing every child to participate. The quality of the student experience at Lynch would not be the same without LPA sponsored activities like Field Day and International Night.

How does my donation help support curriculum?
The primary focus of LPA spending is curriculum support. Enrichment activities put on by LPA are chosen by faculty and staff to support what students are learning in class.  For example, second graders studying Japan have the opportunity to visit the Children’s Museum Japanese house and third graders visit the Tea Party Museum while studying U.S. Independence, through LPA subsidies that keep field trip costs affordable to Lynch families.

Why is the LPA asking for $100?
Every campaign needs a goal and the request for $100 is designed to help us reach ours. It is also consistent with what other elementary schools in the district request from their families. First and foremost, Direct Appeal is focused on getting every family to participate by making a donation in whatever amount they are able.  Every dollar counts, so don’t forget to check whether your employer matches donations.

When should I donate?
Direct Appeal collects funds all year long, but the earlier money is collected, the faster we can put it to use. Still, if there is a particular time of year when it is easier for you to give, make a donation then. If your household finances only allow donations in smaller amounts, donate whenever you feel comfortable doing so. No donation is too small or too large!

What if I have something to donate besides money?
Direct Appeal can also use non-monetary gifts, such as gift certificates, sports or theatre tickets, for your child’s benefit. Your gift may be put to use aiding curriculum within the school, it may be used as a raffle prize to promote even more donations, or it may even be auctioned off for an even greater benefit to the campaign.

What if I have an idea to help LPA raise money?
The Direct Appeal Committee is made up of parent representatives that want to hear from you. Come to an LPA meeting or contact one of the Co-Presidents at copresidents@lynchparents.org. There is an LPA parent representative for each homeroom, who can put you in touch with us.

How can I have a say in how LPAs budget is spent?
The LPA meets monthly, on either a weekday morning or evening, and encourages everyone to attend and get involved. Read the weekly emailed newsletters to learn meeting dates and times and to become more informed about the programs and activities LPA sponsors. Then, be ready to make your suggestions!

What can I do besides donate money?
A few other ways you can help:

(1) Whenever you shop Amazon, start at the Lynch website lynchschool.com and look for the Amazon Smile, use it to enter Amazon and start shopping;

(2) Enroll your Stop&Shop card (every year!) with the A+ School Rewards Program www.stopandshop.com/aplus and asking friends and family in other towns/states to do the same;

(3) Collect Box Tops for Education logos and bring them to homeroom. Check for products at http://www.boxtops4education.com/products/participating-products;

(4) Recycle inkjet cartridges, cell phones, toner cartridges and more (For a full list go to http://www.fundingfactory.com ). Just bring them to the main office.

What else can I do to benefit Direct Appeal?
LPA is always appreciative of your time! Contact LPA to volunteer. Contact fellow parents and community members to brainstorm fundraising ideas. Call some friends and pool your resources to buy a gift certificate or technology item that can be auctioned to benefit Lynch.
