I am pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Christine Kelley of Reading as the new Principal of the Lynch Elementary School. Chris is currently in her fourth year as Principal of the Clapp-Goodyear School (formerly the Goodyear School) in Woburn, MA. Her appointment is effective July 1, 2010.
Prior to taking the Woburn principal’s position in 2006, Mrs. Kelley was an elementary teacher at the Vinson-Owen School in Winchester for 14 years. During her time at VO Chris taught Grades 1and 2 as well as in the Grade 1 and 2 multi-age program. Previous to that Chris taught for three years in the Wilmington Public Schools
Mrs. Kelley is an intelligent, energetic and dedicated educator. Her passion for the public schools in Winchester along with her previous experience has drawn her back to the Lynch School Principalship. I am confident that as the educational leader of the Lynch School community she will work collaboratively with staff and parents in continuing to develop, promote, and celebrate the tremendously positive culture and climate that is already a most important component of the Lynch School community. In that regard, Mrs. Kelley will be a visible administrator with the goals of continuing to pursue high standards while at the same time supporting staff, students, and parents in making the Lynch School the best that it can possibly be. One of our main priorities through this search was to find a leader for Lynch who can work cooperatively with staff and parents in continuing to push the Lynch School Community to new heights. I am confident Mrs. Kelley will do just that!
The Search Advisory Committee is to be commended for their thoughtful, energetic, and insightful participation in this process. Each member’s commitment of time and expertise served the school community well. They are: Marc Kerble, Linda Stapp, Kate Scanlon, Terry Lannon, Katie Malone, Anna Nolty, Gordon Casey, Betsy D’Alelio, Meredith Johnson (staff) Hilary Baker, Helen Chan, Mark Richardson, and Barbara Shegog (parents).
I want to publicly thank the parents who gave of their time as well as providing feedback on the candidates during the visitation day. I would like to offer the same thanks to the Lynch School staff members who participated in the candidate’s visit to our school.
I know you will all join me in congratulating and supporting Mrs. Kelley.
