Arrival and Dismissal
-
Arrival-
Children should not arrive at school before 8:30 a.m. - when supervision by school staff begins.
All K-5 children should report to the dining room (Grades K, 1, and 4) or gym (Grades 2, 3 and 5) before school.
Dismissal- Children are expected to head home when they are dismissed at the close of the school day if they are not being met by a parent. If you are picking up your child, please supervise your child on the playground as there are many children on the playground at dismissal. Younger siblings who accompany their parents should be closely supervised, especially during kindergarten dismissal, which is also lunch recess for the older students. Young children may be at risk on the playground at this time.
Kindergarten classes are dismissed through the front door by the school office.
Grades 1-5 are dismissed through the three front doors:
By the gym - regular bus riders, Kids Corner, YMCA van. By the office - vans, Dora’s bus, walkers toward Brantwood Rd., parent pick-up. By the administrative center - walkers toward Horn Pond Brook Rd., parent pick-up.
Please write a note to your child’s teacher if his/her plans for after school are different than usual (i.e., walking to a friend’s house instead of taking the bus home.)
Before and After School Programs
-
The Winchester Recreation Department offers an early release program as well as the Winchester Recreation After School Program (WRAP.)
The Early Release program begins at school dismissal time on early release days, including conference days, and ends at each school’s normal closing time. Call the Recreation Department (721-7125) or the school principal for more information.
Other after-school programs run by private organizations are available, such as the Woburn YMCA and the Winchester After School Program (a.k.a.: Kids Corner), located at Winchester High School.
